Shane :: Church :: August 29, 2004 # Intelligence Endures

One of the principles of the gospel that brings me great hope is this:

Whatever principle of intelligence we attain unto in this life, it will rise with us in the resurrection. [1]

There is great hope because of truths made evident from this simple statement.

  • We will live after death, and we will remember what we learned.
  • Learning is beneficial for eternity.
  • The word "whatever" implies that not only gospel truth, but all kinds of truth are valuable.
  • The heavens look fondly upon those who seek knowledge and wisdom.

Looking deeper, it is also evident that our knowledge will not go to waste. We will not idle our time away playing harps. If that's all we did, I'd beg to go back to earth where I can do something! There will be great work to do and we will apply our knowledge.

Truth, in whatever subject, excites me. I love to gain it and apply it immediately. It is doubly exciting to know that my eternal soul benefits from it.
